Workshop Waste Classification & Recycling: Environmental Protection and Efficiency Enhancement
Forging operations generate various types of industrial waste. The traditional centralized mixed disposal model had several drawbacks: mixed sale of different types of waste led to reduced revenue; leakage of waste engine oil polluted the workshop floor, creating safety hazards; and cluttered storage affected the tidiness of the working environment. To address these issues, the factory implemented a waste classification and recycling management system, achieving multiple benefits in environmental protection, revenue increase and employee welfare.

Previously, the workshop was only equipped with a single waste collection bin, where carbon steel, alloy steel, waste welding rods, waste engine oil, packaging cartons and other materials were all mixed. Purchasers only settled at the lowest carbon steel scrap price, resulting in significant long-term revenue losses; residual waste engine oil on the floor also easily caused personnel slips and falls, posing safety risks. To solve these problems, the factory implemented the following optimization measures:
Upgraded Classification Collection Facilities
Added multiple special collection containers to store carbon steel, alloy steel, waste welding rods and other materials separately, and equipped sealed containers to store waste engine oil alone. All containers were labeled clearly to indicate the collected categories;
Cultivation of Classification Recycling Habits
During the initial implementation, each team leader provided daily reminders and guidance to help employees adapt to the classification recycling process and gradually form standardized operating habits;
Closed-Loop Revenue Management
Different types of steel materials are sold separately, significantly increasing the unit price of alloy steel scrap; waste engine oil is recycled by professional environmental protection agencies to eliminate environmental pollution risks; all waste recycling proceeds are used to purchase summer drinks, emergency medicines, labor protection gloves, protective masks and other supplies, which are distributed to frontline employees, realizing revenue feedback to employee welfare.

Through waste classification and recycling management, the workshop working environment has been improved, with floor slippage and clutter problems completely solved; waste sales revenue has increased significantly, with an additional income of several hundred yuan per month, while providing more welfare guarantees for employees, achieving a win-win situation for environmental protection, safety and collective interests.
